Happy 4th of July

We went to Star Valley to celebrate the 4th of July.  We had fun visiting Lee's mother!  We got to BBQ in her back yard.  We had every intention of sleeping in a tent in the backyard, but the 4th was too noisy, and the next day we barely got the tent down before a torrential downpour almost soaked us.
 Kim's classic 'cheese' face:
Lee and I were able to take a hike up above Intermittent Springs:
We didn't hike as far as we had planned.  (It was really humid and we discovered we are out of shape!)  It had rained a lot the days before and we were getting soaked brushing up against the foliage.
We also took the girls up to Cottonwood lake for some fishing.  Not the best fishing hole but they still had fun.  We went for a walk and I only saw one tiny fish in the water.
 More 'cheese' face:
 Cold mountain water:
What a patient daddy teaching the girls how to fish!!!
We also took a little bit of time to take some family pictures on the farm.  (They are the pictures that I recently updated the blog with.)

Boxes are Better

I'm sure this is not my first post about the kids playing with the box.  I don't know why we spend money on toys or anything else.  We should invest in a box factory and we'd never have to buy another toy again!

Sack Puppets and Swimming Lessons

Taylor and Kadie had hours of fun making their own sack puppets.  They did this totally on their own with no instruction or ideas from me.  We were using the lunch bags for something else and they asked if they could have a few.  This was what they came up with:
Taylor and Kadie recently completed swim lessons (Kim still has tubes in her ears so she can't do it yet...).  They did a good job.  Taylor completed level 3 and Kadie survived the intro class.  I am glad Kadie was able to do the class.  She was to scared/shy the previous years.
I love this photo.  Happy smiling princesses:

Too cute photos of the intro class floating on their backs.  Kadie has the bright colored goggles on her head so she is easy to spot:
Glad they are getting more comfortable with the water, and even more glad swimming lessons are over.  They take a lot of time and energy!

Kadie's 6th Birthday

Kadie turned six on the 21st of June.  She sure is growing up fast.  She opened her present from us first thing in the morning.  We got her a DS.  Taylor got one at her last birthday and Kadie has wanted one ever since.  She asked for one for Christmas, but we held off until her birthday.
What better way to start a birthday than to have donuts for breakfast?!?
She had a party with friends later in the morning.  She asked for a pinata and we were lucky enough to find one with a pull-string trap door.  (The pinatas at other parties we have been to have been hard to break open so we looked for one that was a little different).
Kadie got to pull the first string:
Kimmy didn't trigger the door with her string:
It worked out perfect.  Everybody got a turn and the last girl in line triggered the trap.  Here is the treat scramble:
Watching your sister open presents is always hard.  I think I have at least one kiddo crying every time.  This year, it was Kimmy's turn to cry:
"Thanks Aunty Liz...we've already watched it several times!"
Favorite "Dress Pajamas" to wear from Grandma Jane and Grandma Andersen:
 Make a wish:
 "What?"
Dance party while we waited for parents:
