Special Visitors

Liz and her family (minus Chase), came down to visit for Emma's birthday.  Mom likes to get pictures of all the grandkids that are present.  With them all being seven or younger, it is a challenge to get a decent shot.

I simply like this one because of the looks on Taylor and Kadie's faces:
Kim was not happy, but this was probably the best out of all the shots.
I got a special visitor this last week.  One of my childhood best friends (Melinda) stopped by for a brief visit as she and her family were passing through our town.  It was a special treat because while we try to visit, we live far away from each other.  Neither of us have had a chance to meet each others' baby, so it was fun to see them together. (The picture quality isn't the greatest because they had to be fast!)

Color Buddies

I caught a cute picture of Kim and Taylor coloring together.  Taylor loves to color and make books.  It looks like Kim decided to join her this time.
 Love this face!

Lander Park

Life has been one long crazy waiting game as Lee hunts for a new job better suited for providing for our family.  We decided we needed a break from Riverton.  We spent the afternoon at the Lander park having a picnic and just playing and enjoying the outdoors.  Kim was the first one to notice a deer off to the side.  I only looked up because she was saying cow cow and pointing.  Right now everything is either a cow, or Cocoa (our dog's name).  The sprinklers were going and it was hot so we let the kids get as wet as they wanted.
Kim was brave enough to go to the edge of the water.  It was hilarious!  Every time the water went by she would jump a little and get a "Hey, where did that come from?" look on her face.  So funny.
Kim also found a stick and thought it would be fun to hit me with it.  That didn't last long.  It really hurt!
Those darn wood chips always have a way of getting into your shoes...
We stopped at the Scream Shack and got some cones on the way home.  Yummy.  Taylor stayed in the car to eat her cone since she had stripped off her wet clothes.  Funny to watch her fall asleep in her underwear on the drive home...not so funny to find her leftover cone melted on the car seat the next day.

We have had Liz's family visiting for the week.  It has been fun to have cousins around to play with.  Kim has been slow to warm up so Uncle Jeff wanted proof that she sat on his lap:
The kids have had fun playing the Wii, swimming at the hotel Liz is staying at, and playing at the park.
All the fun does tend to wear them out though...
Having to share grandma:
"You are sitting in my chair, so I think I'll help myself to your food..."
Have Mario and Yoshi had a tea party at your house?  If not, they need to.
And finally, a cute picture of my and my girls.

Seven Years Ago Today...

 ...we were having a baby!
 Happy 7th Birthday Taylor!
Taylor wanted to do a joint birthday party with her Grandpa on Sunday (his birthday) so that he would be there for her party too.  I'm glad we did decided to celebrate her birthday early, because we have spent most of the week with various family members getting the flu (me included).

Taylor unwrapped a DS game first.  When we commented that she didn't have a DS, she took it in stride and said she would just ask for one for Christmas.  What a trooper!
Kim totally immersed in watching Taylor open presents:
 The Ice Cream Cake:
The lovely quilt Taylor got from Grandma Jane and Grandma Andersen:
 Mario PJ's:
Just kidding, here's the DS she so desperately wanted for her birthday:
 Happy with all her presents:
 Grandpa's turn:
 Taylor's Loot:
Grandma cutting the cake with a BIG knife:
We love Taylor!  She has such a thirst for life and proves it with her endless (and sometimes exasperating) questions.  She is a sweetheart and eager to please others around her.  We look forward to watching her mature throughout the birthdays to come!

4th of July (Post 1 of 3)

The kids spent the afternoon splashing in the kiddie pools we just bought.  (We couldn't find any of the old ones from previous summers, so we got two new ones.) At daycare, there is a whale pool where water comes out of the spout.  We couldn't find that one, but we did find this hippo that you hook the hose to and the water comes out behind his head:
The making of our starfish child:
Don't you love it?  She had to have all of the float rings at once!
Liz and I, as well as our next-door-neighbor, Angela, lived in a pool like this most of the summer.  It had to be at least 80 to set it up.  So far this summer, that hasn't been a problem.  It is in the 90's most days.  It's fun to see my kids carry on the outdoor fun.  Swimming isn't as fun if you don't have the slide ready to go too:
Kadie was braving the spray out of the hippo...brrrrr!
Hope you all have a wonderful 4th of July.
STAY COOL:
